My Favorite Contemplative Exercises

The two practices that I find the most beneficial are the calm-abiding and meeting Asclepius exercises. The meeting Asclepius exercise I do in the morning; it sets the tone for the rest of my day. I feel at peace, wise, loved and loving. The calm-abiding exercise I do whenever my thoughts become hectic or when I have an unpleasant interaction with someone or I get angry, or I feel overwhelmed (just to name a few examples). It clears my mind; I can think objectively and make unbiased, unemotional decisions. The calm-abiding exercise also helps me to let go of disturbing thoughts and feelings.

  1. I like how we both genuinely enjoyed meeting asclepius. I think we all are in search of those feelings and are blind or maybe even naive to the fact that those really lie within our own beings. I'm still in awe with the physical affect this exercise has on me.

  2. Antoinette,

Those were some really good exercises too. I really enjoyed the calm-abiding exercise too even though I picked mediation and loving- kindness. Mediation does the same thing for me as calm- abiding but I just feel myself going to a different level during mediation. During loving- kindness, I just feel love for everyone and want the best for them.

  3. Calm-abiding works for me in not getting angry. I must admit that I do tend to have negative mental comments but I quickly check myself on that. Meeting Asclepius is used by me more on the level of meeting my spirit guided. At this point in my spiritual status, I'm questioning my spirit guide's motives. It may be time for me to change up something or I just may be getting more confident in my guidance.
